Q1361 On some sites I ocassionally get a window that says "JavaScript Error" with a code number. Is this a problem with the WebSite or my computer?

The JavaScript error is a message from the browser telling that a script (which comes imbedded in the web page) did something it was not allowed to or that the browser didn't understand.

You could have one have the following situations:

A script tries to do something your browser does not understand - There is a lot of code out there written for Internet Explorer 4 that does not run under Netscape and an lot of code written for version 4 browsers that does not run on version 3 browsers. You have a strange browser that I do not recognise so perhaps it is time for you to upgrade if you can. Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator are a memory hog so perhaps you do not want to upgrade.
A script tries to do something your browser does not allow - some code was written and worked before it was discovered that some actions could be used to track the user or trick him or her into giving more information than normal. If you come with a newer browser - the hole might have been plugged. Netscape 4.5 allows a script from one domain to access a page from another version 4.51 will give an error on the same page!
A script worked on the script writer's pc but for some reason not on yours - The person that wrote the script didn't bother to test it proper (or couldn't - I do not test on a Macintosh because I cannot get at one)
